Where to Install
Proper placement of alarms is crucial for effective detection and safety. Here’s where to install smoke alarms, heat alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and water alarms for maximum protection:

SMOKE ALARMS
-
Every Storey
Install at least one smoke alarm on every storey of your home where a room is used wholly or partly as living accommodation.
-
Hallways and Landings:
Position smoke alarms in hallways and landings. They should be placed on the ceiling, ideally in the middle of the room, hallway, or landing, and at least 30 centimeters away from any wall or light fitting.
-
Bedrooms
It is strongly recommended to install smoke alarms in any room where a fire risk is identified, such as rooms with a fireplace or heaters.
HEAT ALARMS
-
Kitchens
Install heat alarms in kitchens to detect fire without being triggered by cooking fumes.
-
Garages and Workshops
Place heat alarms in garages and workshops where dust and fumes could cause false alarms in smoke detectors.

CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS
-
Rooms with Fuel-Burning Appliances
Install carbon monoxide alarms in any room with a solid fuel-burning appliance, such as a wood burner, coal fire, or gas appliance.
-
Bedrooms and Living Areas
It's recommended to install carbon monoxide alarms near sleeping areas and living rooms for added safety.

WATER ALARMS

Floor under the washing machine
-
